My First Granny Square

Yep, it's true. My very first granny square! In all my thirteen years, never have I seen such a beautiful sight as this granny square.

But, as we all know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

It only took a good 45 minutes. But I followed a pattern (and a very good one at that, check it out.) so it was a lot of "Are you sure it's 'chain 3', not 'chain 2'?" and double checking and messing up. But the point is, I CAN NOW CROCHET A GRANNY SQUARE!

Only 29 more, and viola...Scarf 1 will be born. I believe it may take a while, but it's do-able. By the way, I have decided on a charity. It's perfect. It's wonderful. It's a local soup kitchen. That way, people can come in for a nice, warm meal, and not only leave with a full stomach--a nice warm scarf to protect them from the elements! I would love to oversee the event, but I'm not sure if that would be weird...

Does anyone out there have any color suggestions? Man, I'm stumped. One suggestion was grey, navy, and white, which can work. I plan on making a few all-black scarves. How can you go wrong there? Maybe a nice coffee or dark chocolate. Sounds like Starbucks. :-)
